I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for the weekend!
This week has been a test of my resolve to not overreact and handle life stressors in a healthy way.
The week started with my mom, who has Lewy Body Disease, having a seizure and being hospitalized. A few hours after the call from my dad, my oldest son, Jacob called to tell me his car had to be towed and was in need of repair. This on the heal of spending $2,000 last month on his lemon. I was literally on the phone with Jacob when my other son, Brodrick came home from school, scared to tell me he hit a cement pole in our parking garage…with my car! A triple whammy all in one day.
Then, last night, Tom and I crawled into bed to find the cat had peed on it! It soaked through the duvet, down comforter, sheets and mattress pad. Thank God it did not get on the mattress! As Tom was freaking out, I remained calm through it all.
I said to him in my sweetest demeanor…DID YOU KNOW stress is just as much about how we react to things as it is the actual circumstance!
Now, I realize this isn’t always easy, but coming from someone who has experienced and recovered from significant adrenal fatigue, which by the way is caused by stress, I think I know what I am talking about.
It might not be easy, but we all have a choice in how we respond to life’s stressors.
That period of my life, while probably the most painful time, was also the time I experienced the most growth and change. I became a new and improved person.
