The final days of our Minnesotan summer are near, which means grilling season is also coming to a close. I can make a pretty good burger on the stove in a cast iron skillet, but nothing compares to a grilled burger. With this in mind, not only did we make burgers on Saturday night we did on Sunday as well!!! Our motto, gotta make all the burgers we can before our deck is covered in 12 ft. of snow.
Peanut Butter Bacon Burger with Brussels Sprouts.
I think I've lived in a culinary hole, as I have never heard of a Peanut Butter Bacon Burger until recently. Back in July we had a summer staycation. Tom took some time off work and we hung out around the Twin Cities. One beautiful afternoon, we decided to drive to Hudson, WI to re-visit our old stomping grounds. This is where I lived with the boys before Tom and I met and married. We ended up down by the St. Croix River, remembering and reminiscing about our walks along the river, watching the boats and hanging out as a family. As dinner time approached we decided to hang out in Hudson a little longer and spotted a restaurant with beautiful river views, Pier 500.
We sat on the deck in the sun and perused the menu. Brodrick spotted it first. The Peanut Butter Bacon Burger. I'm a burger gal, love them, without the bun of course. I knew I had to try it. It was love at first juicy bite. Oh my word, this combo of smoky, nutty, salty & a little sweet was to die for!
We've enjoyed a Peanut Butter Bacon Burger a few more times this summer, only instead of driving all the way back to Hudson, I've made them at home.
No special recipe required to make these bad boys. Make your burgers on the grill as you normally do, top with peanut butter and bacon. Devour……with a side of veggies!
