Confession.
It took every ounce of my discipline to get in 10,000 steps yesterday. With my partner in healthy crime out-of-town, my motivation to move was missing.
To be perfectly honest, I would have been happy as a clam sitting on the couch watching Law & Order SVU re-runs all day long.
I had lots of excuses. Starting with the fact I winced every time I walked, due to a heavy leg workout on Friday. Even though I knew getting some very low-level aerobic activity would help with the muscle soreness, sitting on the couch was much more appealing.
The weather wasn't doing me any favors either. The overcast and drizzly morning turned into an afternoon downpour and thunderstorm.
Of course I could have walked downstairs on the treadmill but that sounded about as appealing a poking my eyeballs out.
Then some time around 4 pm the rain stopped and the clouds parted. It was a Divine intervention.
Sunshine.
I looked at my Fitbit and I had clocked about 3,500 steps. Pathetic.
It's amazing how a small little gadget clipped to my waist and Fitbit friends have the ability to keep one accountable.
So I gave myself a time limit. I told myself I could relax until 5 pm and then I was going walking. And I did.
Plugged in my headphones and walked about 3.5 miles, in my flip-flops, at a leisurely pace. Walked past a park that was a small swimming pool. And under my favorite trees. There was not a cloud in the sky. It was glorious!
By the time I got home I was over 10,000 steps, my legs were no longer sore and I felt amazing!
