Days like today are why I love fall in Minnesota. Blue sky, sun shining and a slight crispness in the air, makes for perfect walking weather. This morning we went for a walk along the Mississippi River. We are just a few short blocks away from a scenic and historic bridge that separates downtown Minneapolis and the St. Anthony neighborhood as well as a wonderful walking path that sports some gorgeous views. Come along with us on our walk…
Kind of out of order, but wanted to show you the St. Anthony Falls first — not only beautiful but peaceful to listen to.
The first bridge to cross the Mississippi was constructed in 1855. It was replaced a few times before the current bridge which was built in 1990. You can see the bridge in the photo on the right, taken from our building on the 4th floor outdoor pool deck and then again down below.
You can get to the Heritage Trail, and walk along the Mississippi River via the bridge and then pick up another bridge, dedicated to walkers, runner, bikers etc. that takes you along and then across the river .
Once across the river you have a beautiful view of the Minneapolis skyline. You are then entering into the St. Anthony neighborhood, home of the Pillsbury flour mill.
Once on the other side of the walking bridge you can walk down a few different winding stairways to get down to the river.
Lots and lots of photographers shooting pictures along the river. We saw senior portraits, engagement photos, family pictures, even some pets getting their pictures taken.
We always get a kick out of seeing the Segway tour going by our building. Apparently this is where they learn how to ride before taking off.
7,000 steps later we arrived back home to lounge on the 4th floor rooftop deck. Thanks for coming along!
