Hamburger helper was introduced in 1971….the year I was born. I like to think, before the processed food industry created this fake food, if you wanted to “help” your hamburger, you piled it high with vegetables. Healthy, nutrient dense vegetables. This is one of my favorite meals….I call them beef bowls. Just grass fed ground beef, spices and veggies. We have a 1/4 cow coming this weekend from Hay Creek Farm, which includes 48# of the most delicious grass fed grass finished ground beef you'll ever taste. I foresee a lot of beef bowls in my future. Check out today's recipe for a healthy Hamburger Helper.
A Bowl Full of Nutrition
♥ Grass Fed Ground Beef
A protein source rich in B vitamins and iron as well as high in zinc. Grass fed beef is an excellent source of conjugated linoleic acid, which has long been investigated for its anti-cancer activity as well as its ability to help aid in fat loss.
♥ Baby Portabello Mushrooms
Also known as crimini mushrooms, 1 cup provides 18 different vitamins and minerals and is an excellent source of selenium, zinc and manganese.
♥ Yellow Onion

♥ Black Olives
Olives have documented health benefits that extend to most of the body systems. Olive benefits have been demonstrated for the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, immune system, inflammatory system, and digestive system.
Researchers have identified more than a dozen different flavonoid compounds in spinach that function as anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents.
Garlic is able to lower blood triglycerides and total cholesterol. Garlic's unique set of sulfur-containing compounds helps protect against both oxidative stress and unwanted inflammation.
